One of the biggest frustrations with services like HelloFresh is falling foul of the ‘rules’ regarding skipping or cancelling your delivery. In this article, I’m going to share with you everything you need to know about managing your HelloFresh deliveries, including:
- Key deadlines you need to be aware of.
- How to Skip a HelloFresh delivery.

If you’ve discovered that HelloFresh isn’t right for you, perhaps it’s not quite time to give up on meal kits just yet. There are plenty of HelloFresh alternatives. I’ve reviewed the major providers here in Australia and know they’re good at different things, so you might enjoy the following meal kits:

HelloFresh Key Deadlines
Whether you are cancelling or skipping your delivery, the deadline remains the same. It’s the point in time that HelloFresh authorise their bank to charge your card. This is the key decision point for all your HelloFresh meals as you can’t make changes after the deadline.
The deadlines are different depending on when your delivery is and where you live.
NSW, VIC, ACT, QLD:
- For customers with a delivery on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, your order cut-off is Tuesday 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
- For customers with a delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday, your order cut-off is Thursday 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
- For customers with a delivery on Thursday or Friday, your order cut-off is Sunday 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
SA:
- For customers with a delivery on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, your order cut-off is Tuesday 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
- For customers with a delivery on Thursday or Friday, your order cut-off is Sunday 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
NT & WA & Mildura (VIC):
HelloFresh
- Your cut off is Tuesday at 11:59PM AEST the week prior to your next scheduled delivery.
If you’re ever in doubt, HelloFresh do make the cutoff point clear on both their website and mobile app. On the website, this is shown above your meal selections on the “My Deliveries” page. One the mobile app, your deadline is listed on the home page next to the delivery date.
FoodBoxMate Tip: Create a recurring calendar notification every Tuesday evening so you can decide whether you want to receive that box, or make some changes. Your delivery day is always on the same day each week depending on where you live.
Skipping a Hello Fresh delivery
Skipping a delivery can be very useful for weeks that you might be away or if you know you’re going to be eating out a few times that week. It’s a really simple process with HelloFresh that takes just a couple of seconds to do.
Please keep in mind that skipping a delivery will only impact that single delivery. Your subscription will continue the week after, with boxes continuing on their weekly schedule.
To Skip a delivery, simply head to your My Deliveries page and select ‘Edit Delivery‘ on the right side of your screen.
This opens up a drop down menu from the top of the screen that gives you a couple of options. We’re interested in the ‘Skip This Week‘ button which is very prominent.
That’s it. You’ve now skipped your Hello Fresh delivery.
It’s also possible to skip your HelloFresh delivery on the go, by using their mobile/tablet application. This is just as simple as skipping on your web browser. Check out the below screenshot.
How do I cancel a HelloFresh subscription?
There can be plenty of reasons why you want to cancel a meal kit subscription, most commonly so you can order from another service and take advantage of their welcome / reactivation offers. I’ve also cancelled subscriptions before because I’d built up a list of recipes that I loved and wanted to cook again with my own twist, using skills learnt through meal kits.
I rarely receive any offers from HelloFresh inviting me to restart my subscription, although I have received a 25% discount on my next 2 boxes before. It’s less common for HelloFresh than their competitors but still happens occasionally.
If you have an active subscription and want to cancel all future deliveries, HelloFresh make this really easy to do. I’m always impressed by how easy they have made this process because their business model revolves around you maintaining your regular subscription.
The biggest pain is that you can’t cancel on the mobile app. The option has been removed, so they force you to log in on their website via a browser.
You can start the cancellation process by logging into your HelloFresh account and heading to your ‘Account Settings’ page.
This automatically loads you onto the ‘Plan Setting‘ tab and you’ll need to scroll down slightly to see a ‘Status‘ section.
You’ll then be offered a couple of different options to cancelling. If you’re sure you wish to go ahead and cancel, then you’ll want to press the ‘Cancel Anyway‘ button.
Finally, you’re asked to select a reason for why you’re cancelling. This feedback allows Hello Fresh to improve their product, so it’s worth selecting the most accurate option.
When you cancel, you will receive an email confirming your cancellation. If you do not receive this email, I recommend double checking your subscription has been cancelled successfully.
That’s really all there is to skipping or cancelling your HelloFresh deliveries, it’s super simple and easy to do. The key tip is to make sure you plan ahead to meet the cut-off deadline depending on your delivery date and where you live.
If you find yourself with a HelloFresh delivery that you don’t want, look for local food banks, family or neighbours who might be able to make use of the produce before it goes off. I’m sure they’d be very grateful!
